Scooter Skills With Constable Gordon

Constable Gordon came to VAS today to teach us scooter skills.
We always need to wear a helmet and shoes not sandals.
He taught us that we need to have one foot on the scooter at all times.
When we stop we need to have both feet on the scooter - one on the brake not stop with our shoes.
We need to stop and look both ways before we cross the road and when we get to a driveway.
We had a lot of fun.
Thanks Constable Gordon!

Calendar Art

This year's calendar art is based on the artist Yvonne Coomber.
Here is her art called 'Walking on Sunshine.'

We died our background, then splattered green paint on for leaves (lots of fun and mess!), then carefully painted circles for wildflowers. Our finishing touch was our photos where everyone made a pose of their choice!

We hope you like them.
Order forms are going home today.

Motat Trip

The Year 3s visited MOTAT on Thursday.
The big focus of our day was 'The Great Race': a challenge to complete 8 stations involving team work and answering key questions.

Our teams were:

Some of the challenges included:
Washing a shirt using traditional methods

Dressing in traditional clothing

Making a human chain to pass coal quickly to a gate and back

Making a human knot.

Writing school rules on a slate and playing old school games

Going to jail!

We finished our day with a tram ride.
Noa rang the bell and the driver/conductor let her wear his hat and pass it around.

So a great day and lots of great learning about teamwork to begin our Inquiry unit: Standing up, Looking out.
